LGBT Diversity Week at CSULB
What is so interesting about the LGBT community is the diversity within it. LGBT Diversity Week at CSULB, which begins on April 12, will allow us all to investigate our own diversity through a series of public education programs. The programs will explore issues, such as gender and gender identity, race and ethnicity, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation.
As part of the program, internationally acclaimed poet, novelist and Lecturer Emeritus at CSULB, Clifton Snider, will be reading from his latest book, Aspens in the Wind, and his novels, Loud Whisper and Wrestling with Angels: A Tale of Two Brothers, on Tuesday, April 13. Snider’s novel, Loud Whisper, has been optioned by Iconoclastic Features. Matthew Mishory of Iconoclastic Features will be joining Snider for a reading and will screen his award-winning short film Delphinium: A Childhood Portrait of Derek Jarman.
Both Snider and Mishory will be responding to Prop 8 through their art: Snider through poetry and Mishory through another short film, The Marionettes.
It sounds like a great opportunity to experience a creative event and learn more about our own community.
